In December 2025, the manned submersible “Shenhai Yongshi” completed 18 archaeological dives on the northwest slope of the South China Sea, marking the first joint operation involving underwater robots to conduct collaborative surveys of shipwrecks. This initiative successfully established a seamless operational model featuring “human-controlled sampling plus unmanned surveying,” providing technological support for the preservation of deep-sea cultural relics and driving the transformation of underwater archaeology from “manual exploration” to “intelligent collaboration.”
