In December 2025, China’s “Jiaolong” and “Fendouzhe” vessels will complete their first-ever collaborative underwater operations in the Arctic ice region. Relying on the ice-breaking mother ship “Explorer III,” they will carry out manned deep-sea dives in the dense Arctic ice pack, thereby expanding China’s manned deep-sea capabilities from “full ocean depth” to “all marine regions.”

Relying on the ice-breaking mother ship “Explorer III,” they will carry out manned deep-sea dives in the dense ice-covered areas of the Arctic, expanding China’s manned deep-sea capabilities from “full ocean depth” to “all marine regions.” In addition, the “Shenhai Yongshi” vessel will conduct manned-unmanned collaborative archaeological surveys in the South China Sea. Throughout the year, the three major manned submersibles will have accumulated a total of 1,746 dives, and it is expected that this number will surpass 2,000 by 2026.
